Pre Loved Slingerland 14" x 7" Hollywood Ace Mahogany Snare Drum in Silver Sparkle
Key Features:
- Vintage Slingerland Hollywood Ace snare drum
- Appears to date from the late 1950s, likely circa 1958–1959
- Black and brass Chicago oval badge
- Mahogany 3-ply shell with reinforcement rings
- Classic Slingerland chrome hardware and period-style fittings
The Slingerland 14" x 7" Hollywood Ace Mahogany Snare Drum in Silver Sparkle is a characterful vintage American snare with a deep, warm and wonderfully musical voice.
Based on its black and brass Chicago oval badge and hardware configuration, this example appears to date from the late 1950s, likely around 1958–1959. This places it in an especially interesting period for the Hollywood Ace name, after the earlier Radio King-style versions and into Slingerland’s 3-ply mahogany shell era.
The drum features a mahogany 3-ply shell with reinforcement rings, giving it a warm, rounded and slightly dry vintage tone. Mahogany gives the drum a softer, darker character than a modern maple snare, with a woody attack, controlled overtones and a rich fundamental note.
The deeper 14" x 7" shell adds extra body, depth and low-end presence, making this a bigger-sounding Hollywood Ace than the more common shallower examples. It has the kind of broad, old-school backbeat that works beautifully for blues, soul, roots, jazz, Americana, vintage rock and studio work where character matters.
Size:
- 14" x 7"
Condition:
- In Good Pre Loved Condition - In full working order with no cracks or structural damage to the shell. There are signs of pitting and scratches to the hardware, as well as some light marks and scratches to the finish but nothing that affects playability. Additionally the drum has been fitted with new Evans heads. Overall, the snare is in good condition with only cosmetic imperfections consistent with regular use.
